Screen or print?

Use HEX or RGB for websites, apps and social posts. Give CMYK to your printer for cards, flyers and banners.

What is a good contrast?

For normal text aim for 4.5 : 1 or more (AA). 7 : 1 (AAA) is best. Big headings can use 3 : 1.

Building a brand palette?

Pick your main colour, then use a light tint for backgrounds and a dark shade for text and buttons.

Questions people ask

How do I convert HEX to RGB?

Type or paste the HEX code, for example #4F5DFF. The RGB value, rgb(79, 93, 255), shows right away with a copy button.

Can I get a colour from a logo or photo?

Yes. Tap "Pick from image", choose the file, then click on the colour you want. In Chrome and Edge you can also pick any colour on your screen.

What does the contrast score mean?

It shows how easy text in this colour is to read. 4.5 : 1 or more passes the AA web rule for normal text, and 7 : 1 passes AAA.

Why does my print look different from the screen?

Screens mix light (RGB) and printers mix ink (CMYK). Bright screen colours can look duller in print. Give your printer the CMYK values and ask for a test print.
