Send Bulk SMS From Android Phone for Free, FRQ SMS Sender

Can you send bulk SMS from an Android phone free? Yes. A free app can send one message to many people from your own phone and SIM card. You do not need a website panel or prepaid credits. The app is free, but the SMS still uses your normal mobile package.

I build tools and CRM systems for small businesses in Lahore. Shop owners ask me the same thing again and again: "I have 300 customers. How do I tell them about a sale without paying a platform?" This guide answers that in plain steps. It also tells you the limits, because every method has some.

How do you send bulk SMS from an Android phone for free?

You use a bulk SMS app on your phone. The app takes a list of numbers, sends the same message to each one through your SIM, and shows you what happened. FRQ SMS Sender is one such app. I built it. It is free on Google Play and needs Android 7.0 or newer.

Here are the four steps.

  1. Install the app from Google Play and set it as your default SMS app. Android asks you to confirm this.

  2. Make a group. Add contacts by typing them, picking from your phonebook, or importing an Excel or CSV file.

  3. Write your message. Add a tag like {first_name} so each person sees their own name. Choose your SIM if your phone has two.

  4. Tap send. Watch the sent, delivered and failed counts. Resend the failed ones with one tap.

Why does the app ask to be your default SMS app?

This is the question people worry about most, so here is the simple answer. Android is built so that only one app is the default SMS app. The Android Developers Blog explains that only the app the user picked as default can write to the phone's SMS storage. A bulk sender needs to save sent messages, track delivery and keep an inbox. So it must be the default.

Google Play has a matching rule. Its SMS and Call Log permissions policy says an app must be the default SMS, Phone or Assistant handler to request these permissions. So an app that can send bulk SMS properly will ask you for this change. A different app that claims to do it without asking deserves a question.

You can switch back to your old SMS app at any time in Android settings. FRQ SMS Sender is also a full SMS app with an inbox, search and replies, so you do not lose normal texting while you use it.

Is it really free, and what does it cost?

The app has no platform fee and no per-message charge. But "free" has two small conditions you should know before you start.

CostWho gets itDetails
The appNobodyFree to download and use
Each SMSYour mobile companyTaken from your normal SMS bundle or balance
AdsThe appSome ads show. One short video gives you 24 hours without ads
WhatsApp campaignsYour internet providerUses your data connection

So the honest answer is: you pay your SIM provider as you always do, and nobody else. Check your package before a big send. A cheap SMS bundle can save you more than any app.

How is this different from a bulk SMS panel?

A bulk SMS panel is a website where you buy credits and upload a list. The company sends the messages from its own system. That is the right choice for some jobs, such as very large lists or messages with a custom sender name. A phone app works differently.

For a shop with a few hundred regular customers, a phone app is often enough. For tens of thousands of numbers, look at a panel.

How many characters fit in one SMS?

This catches many beginners. One SMS is not unlimited. Wikipedia's SMS article lists the limits. A message using the basic 7-bit alphabet can hold 160 characters. A message using the 16-bit alphabet holds only 70. When a message is longer, it is split into parts, and each part holds a little less: 153 characters for 7-bit and 67 for 16-bit.

Why does this matter in Pakistan? Messages in Urdu script normally use the 16-bit kind. So an Urdu SMS runs out of room after about 70 characters, and a long one can turn into several parts. Your carrier may count each part as one SMS. Keep your message short.

Characters that fit in an SMS7-bit, one message1607-bit, each part of a long one15316-bit (Urdu script), one message7016-bit, each part of a long one67

What limits and risks should you know first?

Sending from your own SIM is simple, but it is not magic. These are the real limits.

Your mobile company may set a daily limit

Carriers can apply their own daily limits, and they can act on a SIM that sends too much too fast. The app does not remove that. It gives you a delay between messages and a daily sent count, so you can send at a calm pace. Start small, for example 50 messages on day one, and see how your SIM behaves. Do not send thousands in a hurry from your main business number.

Only message people who expect it

Send to customers who gave you their number. A good bulk SMS is an order update, an appointment reminder, a fee reminder or an offer to existing customers. Cold lists bring complaints and blocked numbers. Keep each message short, say who you are, and give a way to reply.

Clean your list first

Wrong numbers waste your SMS bundle. Duplicates make people annoyed. The app flags duplicate numbers when you import, and you can clean a messy list before that with the free Phone Number Formatter. It fixes formats like 0300 and +92, removes duplicates and exports a clean file. My guide on converting phone numbers to international format explains the steps.

Your data stays on your phone

Groups, contacts and campaigns are stored on your phone, not uploaded to our servers. The privacy policy has the details. Use the backup feature before you change phones.

What can you do after sending?

Good sending is half the job. The app shows sent, delivered and failed counts for each campaign and a report for every recipient. You can resend only the failed messages with one tap and save an HTML report. Templates and signatures save time when you send the same kind of message every week.

Use the report. If many messages fail, the cause is usually wrong numbers, no balance, or a carrier limit. Fix that first, then resend.

Should you use SMS or WhatsApp?

SMS reaches almost any phone, even without internet. WhatsApp can carry pictures and files, and people reply more easily. FRQ SMS Sender can also run WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business campaigns from your phone, using your internet connection. If you work from a Windows computer and want WhatsApp sending with more controls, look at FRQ Reach. WhatsApp's own rules do not allow bulk messaging on the normal app, so read how to lower the ban risk before you try it. SMS has no such account to lose, though your SIM company still has its own rules.

Ready to try it?

Install FRQ SMS Sender from Google Play, make a small test group with your own number and two friends, and send one message. You will see the whole flow in five minutes. Then grow from there. Full details are on the FRQ SMS Sender page.
